Enterprise

Public enterprise “Klaipėdos keleivinis transportas” (Klaipėda Passenger Transport) was established on 27 March 2003 by the resolution of the Council of the Klaipėda City No 1-81. 

The resolution has been adopted in the line of the main task of the strategic development plan of Klaipėda city.

The plan includes creation of a balanced system of the city transport and policy of public transport; giving the priority to pedestrians, bicyclists and means of public transport and improvement of ecological situation and using the territory of the city more rationally.

The main objective of the enterprise is to provide the community with high quality service of passenger transportation taking into account social aspects.

13. The tasks of the enterprise are to perform the following functions set up by the Council of the Klaipėda City:

13.1. coordination of the work of all the types of passenger transportation;
13.2. organization of the system of public transport;
13.3. providing transport routes and schedules;
13.4. improvement and management of the information system of the city public transport in the places of stops and in the means of transport;
13.5. control of the work of passenger carriers;
13.6. organization of issuing, distribution and control of tickets;
13.7. control of passengers and passenger carriers;
13.8. organization of tenders;
13.9. the revenue from the sales of tickets, compensations and grants, remuneration to the carriers for their work by using the existing procedure;
13.10. creation and analysis of the data basis on the passenger transportation in the city;
13.11. preparation of standard acts and documents;
13.12. permission issuance for passenger transportation by regular routes;
13.13. creation and management of the parking system;
13.14. participation in the programmes for the renewal of the means of transport;
13.15. preparation and administration of investment projects;
13.16. implementation of ecologically clean technologies in public transport.
